Sax, clarinet, piccolo, flute and upright bass. Also composer and arranger.

Has played and recorded with Jefferson Starship, Sly and the Family Stone, Mickey Hart, Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter, The Grateful Dead, Grace Slick, George Clinton and Parliament, the Funkadelics, Bobby Womack, and Ron Carter and many others. Steve is also classically trained and has also performed with The Lincoln Center Chamber Orchestra, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Boulder Symphony, Eugene Ballet Orchestra, with of the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Mill Valley Philharmonic
