Sinéad O'Connor – The Lion And The Cobra

I’ve been a fan of Sinead since the beginning, when in 1987 I needed to exchange a damaged pair of AKG headphones I was using as a high school DJ. The guy who owned the stereo shop, Parker King of King Stereo in Springfield, IL, used I Want Your Hands On Me to demo the replacement pair. I was immediately hooked! Since I was already buying almost exclusively CDs by ‘87, I was thrilled when the LPs were reissued, especially since they have been mastered and cut with such apparent care and reverence. If you’re a fan, you really need to treat yourself to all of the ‘23 albums.

An excellent album on a superb vinyl pressing. This record sounds great even on my budget office setup. Excellent dynamics with no perceptible compression whatsoever. Sinead's vocals really shine on all tracks and are complemented by excellent bass and instrument separation. There is some low level surface noise even after running this record through my ultrasonic cleaner, but this noise isn't super audible and is not intrusive at all.

Check before buying, there are copies that are warped. Worth the hassle considering what this record goes for.

Why even bother to release the album if you're going to nitpick and remove one of the tracks from the album and then try to sell it> Silly record company!

I have the American vinyl release, and wonder if the British release has the distortion that mine does? It's most obvious on the vocals on "Troy". I'd love to find a copy that is clean. How is the UK version?

Good pressing - pretty clean, punchy and dynamic.
This album was always all over the place in of sonics and how it was recorded so not all tracks are as powerful as Manlike.
Great to have a fresh repress.
My only gripe is paper inner sleeve and I was hoping for a colored variant for this reissue.

Amazing quality pressing. Mine took forever to ship, but it was worth it. Perfectly balanced, the album already is so good, but you can hear everything. Her vocals are clear, raw. Beautiful just beautiful, all the way around.

My copy is solid. The distortion at the conclusion of "Troy" is smoothed out pretty well. AT-LP120X with an AT-VM95ML.
