Here is a great resource on bootleg and official versions of the Black Album and how to spot the difference.

Edited one year agoWell, HERE IT IS!!!!!
After going down as possibly the most infamous bootleg in music history, "The Black Album" was finally released to the public "officially"!!!!! Now, don't get it twisted, "The Artist Formally Know as Prince" probably wouldn't have it released if it wasn't for him trying desperately to be released from his "Warner Bros." contract...
This album was performed with the first installment of the "New Power Generation" (Sheila E., Dr. Matt Fink, Miko Weaver, Eric Leeds, Atlanta Bliss, Boni Boyer, Cat Glover, Greg Brooks, & Wally Safford)....
I won't comment on the content, even though it might seem tamed by today's standards, but the music behind it is FANTASTIC!!!!!
I will say that "2 Nigs United 4 West Compton" is the Crown Jewel....Once you get ed the beginning commentary, the band just goes off!!!!!!
Some people dig it, some people don't, but one thing you can say, "Prince" (The Artist) made an impact with this one........ -
I'd hope this album gets an official vinyl reissue before too long. A whole new generation of Prince followers has emerged since 1994...

Edited 4 years agoHi everyone. I have a copy of the black album (925 677-1 WX147). Listened to it twice: in 1987 and last year, when I found it among my "youth" records. In excellent conditions. It is the bootleg, with the writing "33" in black on orange triangle. Error on SIDE 2 label: missing the H in ROCKHARD IN A FUNKY PLACE. Marking "BLACK OUT - A" on label margin. I when I listened to it the fist time, I found it strange. I just discover now (33 years later!) it's of some interest.

Funny, 13 people are claiming to own this record. But an employee of Warner Brothers said, there are less than 10 copies in existence....
