Edited one year agoLOVE this album (specifically, the USA version with "Shoppin' From A To Z" and "Rock On" replacing "Hanging Around")! I played it to death as an 11yr old in 1982/83 and it remains an all-time favorite 40+ years later. Toni is palpably fearless on EVERY track. It's a perfect combination of pop and new wave with hints of punk rock here and there. So much more than just the #1 hit "Mickey"! The presence of Devo band (and even 3 Devo songs) only adds to the wonderfully bizarre quirkiness and overall appeal of this album! "Word Of Mouth" spent 7 consecutive weeks at #22 on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart and was certified Gold. The fact that this classic new wave banger has not yet received a proper and COMPLETE release on CD (both UK and US track listings) is just mind blowing! "Nobody", "You Gotta Problem", "Space Girls", "Rock On", "Time After Time" and "Be Stiff" are some of my personal favorites, beyond the obvious monster hit "Mickey" which, as it turns out, was just the tip of the iceberg.
