Saw Luna in Detroit.I was so blissed and a female venue snitch saw my recorder.Asked that I give it up....what..is this 1973? I refused..she hassled and ruined the recording.St Andrew's Hall. They pulled my film during the 1ST Stereolab Tour.Fun place...but....

I was really lucky to snag one of these at a live show in '19. I just wanted to note that the version of Black Postcards here is the absolute highpoint of the band's history. Hard to believe for a song that really didn't mean much to me before that farewell tour. Must be heard to be believed! (Just one man's opinion)

Edited 5 years agoLuna’s days of the planet ended in 2005, though not before touring the world one last time, saying goodbye to dear fans and venues that had been kind to them, where the entire love letter was all captured on film for the documentary “Tell Me Do You Miss Me.”
The loss of Luna on the music scene was taken hard by fans and music lovers alike, a legendary and influential band too few people were even aware of. Many of us felt that a huge chapter in our lives had come to an abrupt end, while refusing to believe that any other band could so eloquently weave their magic into the fabric of our very beings. Yet good things can never stay buried for long, with Luna finding their way back to the stage in 2015, revitalized and carrying on like they’d never been away, never missed a step or fallen out of character.
The DVD “Tell Me Do You Miss Me” treated listeners to snippets of some of their best songs from that final tour back in 2004 and 2005, then low and behold, in 2019 Luna stepped up and released a limited numbered edition of 750 vinyl albums featuring all of those live recordings in their full glory from that enchanted tour. Dean Wareham claims that the assemblage is little more than a bootleg of sorts, though certainly allows room for the true believers to bathe themselves in some of Luna’s most essential and beloved romantic numbers.
The live album is housed in a generic black sleeve with a die-cut center hole. The bottom right corner sports the number of the pressing in gold, much like the Beatles did with their White Album, though with a mere 750 copies accompanied by a . As of yet, there are no plans for a CD release. The vinyl album was available during the fall tour of 2019, with any remaining albums to be sold through the Luna website.
With a limited pressing of only 750 copies, this album sounds smooth, quiet and plays flawlessly.
*** The Fun Facts: The album’s title, along with that of the documentary is taken from a line of the the song “23 Minutes in Brussels,” from the Penthouse album released on the 8th of August in 1995.
