Edited 2 months agoUnfortunately I don't think the sound on this is very good. There's really weird points where the vocals sound almost like the Daleks from Doctor Who! My disc 3 was okay, but the rest suffered from that static bitty in and out. I wonder if further cleaning would solve this problem?
EDIT: A cleaning with just water has helped tremendously. I think I'm just going to need to plan in cleaning before every play as there's a tonne of static present in my area right now -
Super silent vinyl, great tracklist but...
1999 sound so much better.
Simply the mastering was way better -
So I bought this for $12 on deepdiscounts and totally worth it, this album sounds awesome. I love metallica but the symphony stands out so much more on this compaired to the CD I own of this. Definitely pick it up if you like live music.

Just amazing sound, unbelievable mastering. Also super silent vinyl.
Presentation is just perfect. 10/10 -
This release is incredible. I must it, I’ve been a diehard Metallica fan for the majority of my life, so when they did the first S&M, believe it or not, I skipped it when it first came out. I love classical music very much, but had zero interest in hearing Metallica with a symphony behind it. I still have not listened to the first S&M. So I was at my local record shop and they had this, I bought it because what the hell, time to give it a shot since they’ve done two of these. F***ing brilliant!!! I am not comparing this to anything, just the quality of this release and Metallica’s performance. The performances from everyone are stellar, period. I disagree with some comments about the mixing and quality of guitars and vocals…It’s a different animal to mix a gigantic sound like Metallica + a full blown symphony all together, there are compromises that are made to make everything fit together…I personally think this release was mixed well as it’s not clinical and sterile, but rather it captures the sound of the venue and audience as well as the performance. The pressing itself is surprisingly on point for being a marbled, colored vinyl. Hardly any surface noise, quiet ages. Metallica forever!

Edited 2 years ago4 LP orange marbled set, very good but not as great like the first S&M release original from '99. This one sounds like the vocals and the highs are set so far back, it's disappointing. Great bass, good mid's, but lacks sharpness in the hard rockin' guitars, subdued crashing cymbals and snare drum from Lars' masterful set. Yes it's clean and no noises, no skips etc, but go with the first S&M if you want to truly experience this brilliance from Metallica and the SF symphony. EDIT March 2023, listened through all the way again and I'll say that discs 3 and 4 are mastered better and have a more direct sound showcasing the band, while still maintaining enough of the symphonic atmosphere.

This card was dedicated to the 4 black vinyls.
Now you have added that it is Limited Edition (error) and the photo you have put is of the Orange Marbled version ..... what an absolute confusion -
