This is the version for me………
The earlier ones lacked detail & were a little flat to my ears & I listened to a friends MoFI & initially absolutely loved it because I love detail, on listening to Hotel California again with the intention of ordering the MoFi I found I was hearing the detail but missing the musicality/tonality.
Anyway, I held off & stumbled across this one, if I turn the Treble up ‘slightly’ on my Accuphase Pre then I have perfection!!!
Well, in my head it can’t be ‘perfect’ because I’m manipulating it by increasing the treble lol, but…… the end result is perfect!
Then I discovered this was a Bellman master or the Grundman so it all started to make sense.
But what do I know lol, I expect in the future I may buy the MoFi & turn the treble down & bass up & get the ‘New Perfection’ lol.
Anyway…… to me, this is the very best, albeit if I like to inch the treble up for my subjective perfection! -
A good reissue. Good quality. Original cover fully reproduced. Happy to have this album reissued! :)

Edited one year agoBought brand new sealed from Amazon for 36 CAD. Record is warped quite a bit and not well centered. Pressing quality is acceptable at best (a lot of distracting clicks and some nasty pops on both sides). Some obvious distortion, nasty pops and crazy surface noise on A4 and B5. I notice more and more that with several lower quality pressings, the last song of each side seems to be lacking in of fidelity... Sadly, it affects two excellent songs on this record.
Mastering is quite good though, it sounds well balanced and it's more immersive and have more details than my CD. Jacket is great and the included poster is a nice touch. Overall, if you can live with disappointing results on Wasted Time and The Last Resort, it might do it for the price. Otherwise, look elsewhere... 3.65 / 5 -
Excellent mastering from CB! The pressing was dead quiet as well and the poster was a nice addition. When comparing it with the DCC CD, it's immediately clear that this pressing is much better.
-
I have no defects, pressing is dead silent, not a single crack or pop anywhere. Very different sound stage that the digital one I was used to, much nicer balance and no trace of compression.
-
This is an iconic album! But unfortunately this pressing is disappointing. Lots of little crackle and pop sounds, even after cleaning.
-
First copy had a manufacturing defect, but the second copy is perfect. I'm hearing subtleties I hadn't even noticed on CD. Fantastic pressing!
-
Tremendous pressing to my ear. Near silent vinyl after only a dry cleaning. Great dynamics. Does anyone hear what sounds like a slight right channel bias though?
-
Everybody needs to have this copy in their collection. Hotel California and Last Resort great songs. Also the sound on this pressing is very good.
-
I personally love this pressing, it brings out subtle details and is well-balanced in my opinion. Worth buying!
