Mão Morta – Maldoror

one of the best bands ever born in Portugal , they started while being students of law to become lawers but Coimbra a city of students for centuries ,one of the oldest in Europe, also makes diferent young students become friends no matter of wich region of the country they came ,also as a tradicional party every year that i went there when younger to meet two of my friends that studied there and it´s like sodoma y gamorra but no one turned into salt statue ,this by the thousands each day during one week ,no sleep and drunk and high everyday, this band was born there and the first line up was a group of students that become friends but all were from the city of Braga, north of portugal. they released a cassette that was sold in all the country and they started giving concerts in every city of the country , they had luck and new starting labels sign the band but very poor ones but in hundreds of bands known to the public this was one of the only that made it to the mainstream a lot of controversy at the start helped a lot because it came in all newspapers or journals the discription of the concerts who were always a unexpected show , something would always happened and reach the newspapers becoming contrated by EMI on the release of the 3rd LP , when the 4th Lp came out was a mega hit in Portugal, till today they have been releasing Lp´s of great quality ,i dare to say they are the best in the country all others might have a success but not with followers like this band as now since late 80´s ,they might not be refered on tv or they´re promotional videoclips are showed once in a tv show but only the radio talks about them in traditional radioshows of author at weekends or during the week but only at night . Once i heard they split but one day on a beach i go to every year band somedays i camp there ,i saw the all band arrived to the beach , i thought to myself ,"if they are here is because they are working" in two monthes a new album apeared. The ones who like the band are always wishing for another Lp but sales are not that much but if they do a tour their concerts are sold out in every city or village of the country they perform, some of them do work as lawers as main source of income, the lyrics are incredible the music is played at a highest quality possible, there are so may stories about them since early days that i would stay here writing for hours, as one example when jesus and the mary chain were a top band they opened with Mão Morta, allthough the main band gave a incredible concert what stays in my memory is their concert as opening act , a band to do not miss
