Notes

This is a limited edition 2CD verion of "Music By Cavelight." The only mention of the 2nd CD is the sticker on the cover, and the "2 Discs" mark on the CD case itself.

CD 1 was recorded and mixed at The Dayliner Manor, and mastered at 10th Planet. It includes the MPG video at 720x324 resolution, and the Macromedia Flash player for the video.

CD 2 consists of tracks taken from Aesop Rock's Bazooka Tooth (5). The tracks listed on the CD are out of order, but listed correctly below. In addition, "Night Light" fades out early (the vocal version is about 2 minutes longer), and there is a 6th track listed on the disc (Babies With Guns) which is a pressing plant error and isn't actually on the disc.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Blockhead's father, Sidney Simon.

When I saw Blockhead live, I picked up this 2CD set, and was quite happy after the fact. To be honest, I hadn't heard of this chap before his set. I was a bit confused why he played a couple Aesop Rock tracks during his show, and now I know why (<i>Blockhead produced them</i>).

This album is a nice blend of dowtempo melodies and hiphop beats, plus some odd samples. <b>Triptych Pt. 1</b> features a tweaked vocal sample, which could have been misused, but somehow fits right in. The other track which has gotten lodged in my head is <b>Insomniac Olympics</b>, although the video is a bit of a let-down.

Over-all, a good album, with some splendid moments. The Aesop Rock instrumentals are a nice bonus, but the vocals make the tracks complete.
