Obviously a classic recording, and this pressing sounds incredible. Silent vinyl, lively dynamics, and a soundstage that will have you in disbelief that this is a mono mix. You are in the room. Essential for any jazz collection.

Edited 2 years agoWow, this is a great product, from clean vinyl, to crisp sleeve art, OJC has reissued a winner.
No need to discuss the band, these players have firmly planted themselves in hard bop mythology. Anytime you combine three or more musicians from Miles' "Kind of Blue" quintet, you know what you are going to get.
Speaking of the recording, I was worried at first because the first track, "If I Were a Bell", suffers from obvious tracking issues, such as phasing and a little clipping. The ensemble mix is muffled at times. From that point on, all the problems are resolved and the second track sounds absolutely marvelous. Soundstage is dialed in, and each soloist is mixed big, dry, and articulate. "I Could Write a Book" and "Oleo" are perhaps the quintessential swingers on this date. Pay attention to Garland's smooth piano lines and the way his instrument has been close-miked to hear those hammered strings knocking on the soundboard. Sometimes tenor eq lacks body.
I will quit carrying on, but if you see this record, grab it. It's a winner. -

Stunning copy! Huge 3D soundstage, silent vinyl, sounds AAA. Easily as good as any audiophile jazz record I own!
