on my copy side A runout reads: R. MPO** 15-0736 A MPO22273132 88875-17387-1A RJ STERLING
this version of the record is closest to the one in hand but with additional runout info. Anyone have any thoughts?
thank you -

Absolutely superb sound, I am extremely impressed. Lazarus sounds the most ethereal it's ever been here. Very nice packaging too, however I am still not a fan of the clear PVC sleeve, and I wish they'd have just used a polylined sleeve instead

I own a RTI Pressing of this great album, but it crackles and pops even after cleaning. This MPO Pressing is amazing. A slight wave warp but undetectable to play. There is bass depth to Sue (Or in a life of crime) that allows my ears to pick up on instrumentation I wasn't aware of on the RTI. There is a small mystery. I have a stamped MPO Logo on Side 1 with the numbers 22 267730 stamped with it. Any ideas?

Sound quality and pressing quality are excellent for this Blackstar album. The packaging is really nice though the star cutout has some creasing at a few points of the star. I suspect the cutout weakened the cover and either the shrink wrap or shipping caused the creasing. I'm assuming the shrink. Regardless, this is a phenomenal Bowie album. I didn't "get it" the first time I heard it but I'm digging it now.

Nice pressing after you clean it.
Out of the package this pressing (mine at least) was a disaster. Noise all over and it felt like it was from the 40s.
After a clean it sounded great and brand new. -
Has anyone in the US tried the sunlight "trick" to reveal the Stargell hidden in the die-cut jacket? I tried this yesterday with my recently purchased MPO** (side A&B) US purchased edition and nothing happened. Most reports that I've seen come from the UK; is this possibly a UK or EU-only thing? The people who have done it mention the inner jacket paper under the die-cut being thin. My edition has the same weight stock for all of the jacket structure. Has anyone successfully gotten this to work?!?

Edited 9 years agoThe copy i just purchased has MPO✲ on both side A & B instead of MPO✲✲ on side B anyone have any information on these? Could it be yet another repressing?
-
Just got a batch of MPO represses from Alliance Distributors and the one I opened sounds wonderful. Zero noise and some of the nicest vinyl mastering I have heard in a while. Also these copies do not have the "✲✲" in the etching that is supposed to differentiate this from the first pressing so,,,,,, I don't think that is correct.

Had terrible surface noise on my copy...exchanged it at Amazon and received a different pressing. Parental Advisory sticker was much smaller on MPO pressing, and matrix numbers on the replacement copy seem identical to the original pressing. Is this an alternate repress, or did I somehow get a copy of the first pressing? Either way, this copy sounds fantastic.
